iPeople SC Solutions is currently recruiting for Personal Adviser for our client based in Shropshire and surrouding areas.
The successful post holder will work within the Leaving Care Team to work with Asylum seeking care leavers.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Carry out Local Authority duties under the Children Act 1989, Children Act (Leaving Care 2000) and Children and Social Work Act 2017
- Hold a caseload of young people who are Asylum seeking Care Leavers, as defined under the Act, and provide services to those young people aged 16-25 years who are or have been looked after by the Local Authority.
- To produce Pathways Plan in line with procedures and statutory guidance, they need to consider triple planning and ensuring they are outcome focused, set SMART targets that focus on achieving independence and transition to adulthood.
- Undertake needs assessments with the Care Leaver to inform the pathway plan and identify appropriate provision support and resources to meet the outcomes required.
- To liaise with the Team Manager and Senior Officers on complex cases.
- Monitor caseload and report any significant changes to the Team Manager or Senior Officer where required.
- To work towards achieving internal and external performance indicators
- To keep up to date with any relevant legislation, guidance and research including case law pertinent to Asylum seeking Leaving Care and Care Leavers
- To develop knowledge and awareness of relevant supporting legislation and guidance to inform the Personal Adviser role, including Home Office legislation, housing, benefits, education and criminal justice guidance.
- To respond to identified needs and promote better outcomes for Care Leavers by providing opportunities and helping them to make a successful transition to adulthood.
- Responsive to changes in legislation, national and regional and local priorities
- To support the achievement of directoral and divisional objectives as outlined in Service and Team Plans and to work to professional and national occupational standards.
- To complete Needs assessments
- Any other duty in line with this post and at the direction of the Service Manager or the Head of Service Children’s Social Care and Safeguarding.
Requirements
- Enhanced DBS
- 5 years work reference
- Experience of working with young people leaving care and Asylum Seeking young people
Working Hours
- 37 hours per week
- Normal office hours are 7am to 7pm Monday – Friday
- Flexible working is required and the need for occasional unsociable hours will be required, in response to the needs of the Care Leaver
