iPeople SC Solutions is recruiting a Cook to work for our client based in Medway and surrounding areas.
The successful candidate will provide healthy meals in a short breaks home for children and young people with learning difficulties and complex needs.
The successful candidate is to have overall responsibility for the kitchen.
Duties and responsibilities but not limited to
- Prepare menus and cook meals in accordance with the food hygiene legislation, ensuring all meals are of a high standard, nutritious and meet the dietary requirements of the children and young people.
- Purchase food and ingredients from an agreed budget, and replenish consumables whilst ensuring adequate stock supplies are maintained.
- To carry out cleaning of the kitchen, store cupboards and surrounding areas as required, including equipment to ensure the kitchen is maintained to a high level and conforms to current standards and requirements.
- Keep necessary legal / statutory paperwork up to date, including temperatures and cleaning rotas.
- To work safely and comply with all health and safety instructions, practicing and promoting safe working practices and reporting any accidents, hazards or breakages to the Deputy Manager.
- Undertake the laying of tables, clearing up, washing up and putting away of crockery and cutlery to ensure high standards of cleanliness are maintained.
- Assist in cooking activities with the children and young people ensuring health and safety regulations are followed at all times.
- Assist with events, e.g. coffee mornings as required.
- At the discretion of the Head of Service, such other activities as may from time to time be agreed consistent with the nature of the job described above.
Working Hours: 30 Hours per week, Flexible working/Weekend/Part time.
Working Style: FIXED – The post holder will be permanently based at Parklands Short Breaks, although they may be expected to work at any location across Medway. You will be required to cover shifts for the other cooks, e.g. annual leave as required.
Requirements
- Enhanced DBS Check at interview stage
- Level 2 Food and Hygiene certificate
- Previous cook experience required
- Knowledge of relevant hygiene and health and safety guidelines and regulations or ability to learn.
- Understand hazard warnings/instructions on domestic/hygiene products
- Knowledge of infection control
- An awareness of different dietary requirements
